Question about 'Stop Windows (XP Explorer) from (Randomly) Searching the Floppy Drive' Monday, December 15, 2003 at 4:12 pm Windows XP Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by Linus (2 messages posted) I've been recently encountering a problem with Windows XP searching the Floppy Drive, too. But it's not that randomly as some of you might have experienced. It only happens when I open "My Computer" on the Desktop or in the Explorer. Before I am shown the content of "My Computer" (that is to say my computer's drives) it takes the floppy drive between 1 and 2 seconds to make its terrible noise while checking that there is no disk inserted. Because I did a lot of software installing over the weekend I cannot tell when it actually occurred, but I suspect the installation of "CompuSec 4.16 SP2" (a system security and encryption tool by CE-Infosys IT) of having caused this trouble. Does anyone know, what to do? Otherwise my last chance would be to permanently disable my floppy in the device manager...
