I assembled a machine with a P4 2.60GHz, an ASUS P4S800, 512Mb of generic RAM and
an ASUS FX-5200 Majic. I was getting the stupid BSOD with the page fault error in
nv4_disp.dll every time Windows XP (w SP1) would try to boot in a mode other that
VGA. Changing the resolution or refresh rate while Windows was in VGA mode would
result in a cute matrix of ASCII characters...
I solved the problem by removing a PCI Fastrak 66 RAID controller that was connected
to my motherboard. Hope this helps somebody some day.
