Went to the Sony Support page for this model and they have a BIOS update but the update (called PHA2U0MNGZ.EXE) is only for a WinMe system which is fishy since the laptop came with a rebate for WinXP. We found the WinXP BIOS update (called PHA3U0XNG4.EXE) which of course says in big bold letters 'It is highly recommended to install this BIOS before upgrading to Windows XP.' We'll report back... I'll post our results so if someone finds this thru Google they'll know what's up.
