that's sort of what i did? correct? when i first got xp upgrade, brought it home, hubby convinced me to just put it in and go from there, so i did. and i knew i made the wrong move. i had nothing but problems. i then completely re formatted (writing zeros to the hard drive, format c:, and etc.) added windows me and then xp upgrade and i haven't had any problems thus far. thanks for the reply lb
