After conducting a series of tests, I've determined what causes programs to sometimes remain in the add/remove programs list after deleting them from the registry. If you delete the 'Uninstall' key in an effort to remove all your programs at once, it will leave ghosts behind. You must either delete them one-by-one or follow the second step I've outlined in my previous post.
