This may help, as with any registry edit be very careful
1. Open IE6 View – Encoding check Western European (Windows) or Unicode (UTF 8)
2. Quit Internet Explorer, if it is running.
Start – Run - type Regedit - OK.
Locate and click the following registry key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.gif
Double-click the Content Type value in the right pane of the Registry Editor.
In the Edit String dialog box, type image/gif in the Value Data box, and then click
OK. Locate and click the following registry key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpg Double-click the Content Type value in the right pane of the
Registry Editor. In the Edit String dialog box, type image/jpg in the Value Data
box, and then click OK.
Quit the Registry Editor.
Start Internet Explorer and open any Web page with a JPG or a GIF image
