I had the same problem of the fan continuing to run with a Logitech cordless mouse
that I had plugged into the USB port on my Sony Vaio. There are no applicable mouse
properties in my XP Pro setup to allow a power parm fix. So, my resolution, now that
I knew it was mouse related, was to shutdown the computer so a cold boot would occur,
move the mouse sensor from the USB port to the PS2 mouse port (using the green conversion
plug from Logitech provided with the mouse), and then startup the computer.
