To disable the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, you can unregister shimgvw.dll. This can be done by opening a MS-DOS command prompt and typing this into it: regsvr32 /u shimgvw.dll . Set a restore point first.... To find any lost pictures do a wildcard search,(including hidden folders, and searching the whole computer) ie *jpg or *bmp or *png etc. Once rounded up, why not specify a default folder where uploads from your camera etc. are to be put.
