You can tell when the new one is correctly installed:

Open up IE
Go to Tools / Internet Options
Content / Certificates
Click on the Trusted Root Certificates Tab
Click on the Expiration tab (this will sort by date)
Scroll to the bottom and you will see several by Verisign set to expire in 2028.

These are the ones that get installed.
