As far as the icons goes oneway to do is it quite annouying when you want to save
data within the program..I've always ended task on the missing icons and restarted
the program again.. I think more of what you wanted to ask was...How can you make
the programs the icons are missing for the top most focused window..Then my method
would be of much more benefit..As you could save your work and simply restart w/
no loss..
As far as the network goes..What operating system are you using? Have you made sure
your network card isn't conflicting IRQ's w/ anyother device i.e. vga card.. Some
devices will not "share" a IRQ willingly thus causing random crashes when both devices
are in use. Now w/ new motherbaords which support more than 15 IRQ's thats normally
not an issue. As well newer motherbaords support ACPI compliance which is a method
used for IRQ sharing that allows better perfomance and less chance of conflicts as
well as crashes. Another thing to try.. Update all nessasary drivers i.e. motherbaord
chipset drivers, network card, direct X,soundcard,VGA etc. Those are what most people
have as defualt devices in their system. As you may have more.. Lastly you may wanna
try using some sort of system monitoring program and try to generate the crash..The
monitor will log whatever happens to that point and hopefully you'll be able to pin
point the culprit.. Best of wishes to you Bob.
