It works some of the time, but all too often it doesn't work when you need it the most. It would be best if you switched to a disk imaging system, but that may be too complex to setup without quite a bit of work. Second best is to look into a product called GoBack. But System Restore is better than nothing, so you should turn it on until you switch to another more reliable tool.
