I have tried all the suggestions in both places, but have not found a satisfactory solution. One rather technical solution offered here some months ago involved registry edits. I have no problem doing the reg edits, but I could not find the key specified on my machines. I have this same problem on 7 machines with XP and have maintained one old laptop with W98 and a WiFi connection to allow me to pick-up the historical data from the disks. As a default in UK, Dell do not sell machines any longer with a floppy drive, I do not know if it is cost cutting, or they know about the problem!! Sorry to be so gloomy on this, I would also welcome a workable solution from anybody.
