One thing I found that seemed to work after all else failed: make sure that "Lock
the Toolbars" is unchecked before you set the Status Bar on (checked). Then, if you
like (I prefer them locked), set the "Lock the Toolbars".
Note that you should hold the CTRL key when you close. You should also be sure not
to have other Internet OR Windows Explorer windows open when you do this.
