"I only did the update." Do you mean you installed a MS update from its website
to your WinXP, or do you mean something else?
Are you saying that when you boot up, even though there is no Start menu, taskbar
etc., your Task Manager shows explorer.exe as a running process?
Sorry, but unless running sfc /scannow works, you'll need to look into and get the
info about those "heaps of errors." Focus on those dealing with explorer.exe.
BTW, do you have a "recovery CD" from your computer's vendor for WinXP, or do you
have a full install XP CD?
