I have a similar problem to you, but I have a static HW config. I think it must be
to do with the nVidia Detonator drivers, as shown below.
I have an Athlon XP 1800, 512 Mb PC2100 DDR, IBM Deskstar, Chaintech GF3 Ti200 128Mb
DDR.
The following timings are for the display of the Win2000 splash screen, which takes
longer to complete as I load more recent Detonator drivers.
Default win 2K VGA drv, the windows splash screen is displayed for ~ 30 secs.
Detonator v 29.42 splash display = ~ 50 secs
Detonator v 53403splash display = ~ 300 secs
I have tried a few versions in between, and each
new ver of the Detonators increases Win2K load time.
I tried removing all PCI cards, disabling mobo USB
and removing all non essential Win2K Services.
the only consistentthing is the poor load times.
I am now thinking of moving to ATI.
did you get anywhere with this?
