After asking around, it seems that a lot of folks find this problem annoying but, surprisingly enough, I have yet to find a solution to it. There seems to be a lot of folks on annoyances.org that ask about how to maximize a window upon startup but no one seems to ask about how to avoid the forced maximized size that is, in fact, not a maximized window but a "normal mode" window stretched out to the maximized size. Upon further experience, it seems that the bug is a system level one: it confuses the last application that had the window at maximized size and may cause another application to open up in that weird stretched-to-max size, instead. Any ideas?
