I have this exact same problem. A common thread here seems to be the addition of
peripherals. A year ago, when I built this computer, I wasn't A+ certified and didn't
know anything about ESD. I beginning to wonder if this isn't the slow death of component(s)
via ESD? More than likely, when you do get it running, there'll be file system errors
sometimes, to the point chkdsk cannot determine the file system, which would lead
me to virus/corrupt MBR, yet AV comes up clean...
It is very frustrating indeed. If you can afford it, Spinrite (Gibson Tech) is a
disk repair utility, that's supposed to help fix this problem
