Modem canot start (Code 10) Saturday, April 3, 2004 at 11:16 am Windows XP Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by John McMurtry (37 messages posted) I have just done a new install of XP on a blank Hard Drive. All is well except the modem which will not work. In Device Manger it shows it has a problem with the "!" in a yellow diamond next to the item. Checking the properties, the GENERAL page Device status reads, "This device cannot start (Code 10)". Then another line says to click Troubleshooter, but doing so gives me a blank in troubleshooter. I put in some topics but to no avail. I've tried everything I can think of. I even bought another modem and it does the same thing. I'm at a lost. Anyone come up on this, if so what did you do to fix it?
