Hello everyone;
I've just found myself in the same situation as every other contributor on this forum.
I'm just starting out in building my own websites and though armed with a few books
I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing.
However, I'd like to add my tuppeny's worth:
The hack thats been described on this website in numerous places; does it actually
work? I've tried it and the install process bombs about 75% the way through. Bearing
in mind that this discussion has been going for such a long time, I'm assuming that
wat may have worked a couple of years ago, is no longer effective.
Also I'm wondering if it could be do with something peculiar to my laptop (compaq
presario 2100), or maybe the win2000 professional CD I'm using is meant for Dell,
and only Dell PC's (I doubt this though), or maybe because its an amd machine - or
... any number of half sensible reasons. I suspect none of these is the case and
the real reason is simply because microsoft don't want to allow it....
Anyhow, I'm in the midst of using selisoft / abyss alternative though I'm not sure
if its going to give me what I want...
