Hello. Can anyone help? I have XP and for a couple of months I've been getting an
error message about NDD cannot chech Index's, and that another process is running.
Two days ago another message about dwwin.exe DLL initializing failed, then in Norton
DD in my reports it says, 'Deleting index entry tmp.edb in index $130 of file 3110.'
I rebooted and lost my Icon and network connection completely. That means no DSL
connection for my home PC. The DSL to my home is working because I can use my work
computer. When I go into 'My Network Place' I have no icon and no pathway for connectivity.
I ran CHKDSK in DOS and the message came up 'Chkdsk cannot run because the volume
is in use by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked
the next time the system restarts?' I've re-checked at boot up mulitple times over
the last two days without success. What would have erased my network connection and
icon? The two new things I've done in the last two weeks is update Windows and added
an HP PSC 2410 all-in-one. I ran an HP System Diagnostic Check and a driver for the
Linksys NC100 Fast ethernet adapter is void. Is it possible for ethernet adaptors
to go bad? Would replacing the ethernet adaptor be the first item to replace? I would
very much appreciate anyone to help! P.S. I tried to do a system restore and it would
let me. Jan in Sac.
