I have a question about What do I do with "unknown" devices in Device Manager?:

I have a USB mass storage device (RCA mp3 player) that isn't being recognized by windows b/c it does not have a driver installed. RCA tells me that the drivers aren't required for windows xp users. The device worked great for 3 months, but one day I plugged it in and it just wasn't recognized. How do I get windows to recognize the device? Do I need to find the appropriate drivers? Please help. Thanks.
