I'm having the same problems too. I've tried all the suggestions here, and the problem
seems to be getting worse. AdAware and Spybot both lock the system up when scanning,
but Spy Sweeper does a complete scan and doesn't find anything now, however I suspect
this problem is related to spyware. The next time I'm able to login (after several
tries, I can get in after reactivating XP), I'm going to share my C: drive, copy
all the files I need to another PC, then format this b!tch and start over from scratch....yet
again. Linux is looking better and better everyday!
