To be short and sweet, I found the problem.
I loaded some anti-virus software that came with my desktop's hardrive. The software
(which I also loaded onto my laptop) had an auto-engaged firewall that I had not
thought to check.
The firewall was blocking both computers from seeing the HP on the network, but because
the ports matched (using the same program, same firewall system...) they saw each
other just fine.
Well, problem solved. Although ya'll were not able to help, I am glad this was here,
because I'll probably use this as an option in the future, barring possible problems
that may appear when I install my dvd-burner or whatnot. Thanks!
