If i went into msconfig and regedit and disabled a lot of shit, i can avoid the delay, but i've lost patience. I'm just reinstalling and reformatting, which is proving to be even more exhausting because i have to wait till my dad sends over my Windows XP cd i left in the states, and im having immense difficulty reformatting and removing windows xp...joy of joys. good luck to all with the same problem.
