I had a similar problem with MUP.sys. It kept restarting my computer every 15 minutes
or so, although this could be a different problem from what some of you are having.
But since the trouble was the mup.sys file with me, ill post this solution (by microsoft).

the problem is not a hardware problem at all, it has to do with windows SP4. You
need edit the registry, but the instructions are pretty straightforward, can't go
wrong. It worked well for me.
