thank you very much. At first I tried your suggestions but it did not work. I then
went into control panel>administrative tools>computer management>system tools>local
users and groups>hightlight group>highlight network configuration>add the users>save.
Only then it works. My network card is intel 8255x-based ethernet card(10/100).
