THANK YOU!!!! Just set up a new Dell 9100 and was having the same fan problem you described. Dell support was of NO HELP. Just spent about 2 hrs. running diagnostics to no avail. They are ready to replace the notebook for me. Thought I' rather try a Google search and fortunately, I found your post. Can't thank you enough... as I have spent all day yesterday installing apps and drivers for my system... You saved me at least 12 hours of work... and frustration. Jerry
