I tried all the options given in this chain and all failed.
Finally I got Windows Installer on my XP pro to work by removing msi.exec from System
32 and re-installing Windows Installer by double clicking on instmsiW. (I already
had several copies of this on my PC)
I understand instmsia should work for Win2K.
