Go to start/ run and type in CMD and click OK. Then in the box that opens, type in SFC/SCANNOW and press ENTER on the keyboard. SFC will run and automatically repair and/or replace crucial Windows files. It might ask you for your XP CD to extract a file from. After SFC completes just type EXIT in the box and click ENTER again. Then restart the computer and see if it fixed the problem.
