I downloaded/installed Windows XP SP2 last wk. My PC doesn't have WMP, but another
one does. I deleted client id entries from HKey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayr\Player\settings
& HKey_Uers\.default\software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Player\settings. I added "=off"
to [Optional Components] section in c:\windows\inf\wmpocm.inf and wmaccess.inf.
I removed the "hide" from the c:\windows\inf\sysoc.inf. However, when I goto c:\program
files\windows media player to delete files, the executables and dll's duplicate themselves
and reappear. I even tried with DOS commands del and erase with -f option.
I did find c:\windows\inf\mplayer2.inf that shows the following section:
[WMPDelay.Actions]
HKLM,"Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer","BlockUninstall",,"yes"
If I remove the "BlockUninstall", will I be able to delete Windows Media Player folder
and files? What does the "yes" mean?
TYIA.
