Anyone had a problem upgrading to Win XP Pro SP2 and receiving BSOD Stop Error 23
at start up?
Everything was working fine before, and had been since I got the computer. I then
install SP2 through Windows update and after rebooting I get a BSOD as Windows is
starting up saying its a 0x00000023: FAT_FILE_SYSTEM error with the file fastfat.sys.
Rebooted a dozen times with the same error each time. (I originally thought it might
be defective memory, but from experience it is usually different error messages every
time you reboot and I had no problems prior to SP2)
Now what I find strange is that I have two h/d's both of which are NTFS, not FAT32!
Booting in safe mode works without any problems.
My specs are:
Asus K8V SE Deluxe
Athlon 64 3200+
512 Meg PC3200 RAM
Radeon 9800Pro 256Meg
West Digital 160Gig Serial-ATA H/D NTFS boot drive
West Digital 80Gig Ultra ATA H/D NTFS
LG GSA-4120B 12X Super Multi Internal DVD+/-R/RW Drive
420W P/S
with AMD Cool & Quiet Utility Active and nothing is overclocked.
Anyone have an idea of what the problem could be?
I rolled back to pre-SP2 and everything is working fine again.
