Hi all,
It seems like everyone is finding a different fix for very similar problems here.
After going through the entire list of fixes supplied (many thanks guys, much appreciated
though none worked for me, unfortunately), I was still getting a search screen come
up in a new window when I double clicked on a drive, instead of it going straight
into exploring within the same window.
Looking at Budinbuzz's post, I had a go at tinkering in the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive
area, rather than the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder and Directory areas, and this fixed
it for me.
I believe I cleared the \Drive\Shell\Find 'default' key to "(value not set)" by right-clicking
on 'default' and selecting 'delete'. Pretty sure it was that, but to be honest,
after spending the last four hours sat here scouring the net and beating my registry
with a plank with on-suite rusty nail, I didn't really expect much to work and wasn't
paying attention :p Anyway, here's how that part of my registry looks now:
\shell '(Default)' 'none'
\shell\find '(Default)' '(value not set)'
\shell\find\command '(Default)' '%SystemRoot%\Explorer.exe'
\shell\Find\ddeexec '(Default)' '[FindFolder("%l",%I)]
\shell\Find\ddeexec\application '(Default)' 'Folders'
\shell\Find\ddeexec\topic '(Default)' 'AppProperties'
Hope that helps, it's not as complicated as I've somehow made it look :)
