I was able to cause the exact same problem on my machine. Try this: Key: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main" Name: "Start Page" Type: String (REG_SZ) When that value was not present, IE opened for a split-second--only long enough to see the title bar--before closing again.
