ok, here's the trick. open your PROGRAM FILES\MESSENGER folder and get ready to
rename msmsgs.exe to maybe 'msmsgs.exe so u still know what it is in case you need
it. i did this permanently as i use messenger 6.2.. its in a totally different DIR.
so CTRL-ALT-DEL and highlight msmsgs.exe and end process.. now u must rename exe
file in folder before windows starts it back up. then you are free from that crappy
background runnin, resource stealin, online monitoring program. this is just a quick
fix that works, but again if u don't use a different version, this isn't recommended.
