HEY EVERYBODY
This is an answer to the Spool app error, when you can't do file sharing.
I am a MS XP SP2 tech, and I found this forum while doing research for a client of
mine with the same problem. While this forum didn't solve his problem, the Visual
KB we have sorta did.
What he did before calling me was uninstall Norton Internet Security, which got rid
of his software firewall.
Then, we got that Print Spool service error (exact one everyone else had) when in
the midst of running the Network Setup Wizard.
So I had him right-click My Computer and click Manage..., then open Services & Applications,
then click Services. In the Services window, click Print Spooler service and STOP
it.
Then, run the Network Setup Wizard to start file & printer sharing. It should give
no errrors.
Now you should be able to go into My Network Places and access the other computer's
shared files.
After you have setup access to the shared network resources, go back to the system
management place for Services, and START the Print Spooler service again.
It took me almost two hours to figure that out, but it worked for my client.
Hope it works for y'all, too!
