For me, there was already a PnP swenum installed, so installing another one didn't
actually help (I spent quite a lot of time trying to uninstall the extra one - needed
to edit registry - since the extra device just caused crashes etc.)
I somehow found out, that from device manager some devices were hidden, one of which
was somehow conflicting and thus not started - think it was some kernel system audio
device in sound, video and game controllers. Solution: uninstall all devices, both
kernel and other, reboot, and I guess everyhting was reinstalled after the reboot.
At least I'm just listening to music from my hard drive... :)
(Note: I did a bunch of unsuccessful attempts with various strategies before I managed
to get the sound devices to function properly, so I cannot guarantee that this works
just like this, but it may give pointers to where to look for the solution for the
problems.)
