Hi, you didn't say how you formatted your hard disk in order to reinstall XP. Did
you use floppy disks or the XP CD? If you are using the CD, then two possibilities,
one is that the CD is damaged or second one is that your CDrom has developed a fault.
If both are ok, then depending on which CPU you have, if it is AMD, then either the
CPU was overheated in the past, or the memory modules or the cache memory on the
motherboard have developed a fault. Sorry, can't be more specific with regard to
the hardware without more precise historical account of events.
