Update: I tried all the fixes suggested INCLUDING a BIOS update. The ONLY fix that
worked is at:

It's a bit tedious, but it really worked. The problem may be percipitated in hardware,
but it definately is a file that got overwritten. That link is a good, simple fix
for blue-screen of death for a recently working computer.
