Friday, January 21, 2005 at 7:40 am Windows XP Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by Swingheim (1 messages posted) Okay, in regards to "How do I make the background of desktop icon text transparent?", there is another reason why your text on your icons may NOT be transparent: TURN OFF THE ACTIVE DESKTOP. After a while of tinkering around with this, I realized that if you have active desktop turned on, it can force the background of your icon text to be opaque.
