Well - In total frustration, I have tried each tip I could find on the WEB - All
to no avail! Ironically, before I had put the XP-SP2 on my machines, I had absolutely
"0" problems! I use a LinkSys Wireless Router... The suggestions from LinkSys are
to lower the RTS/FRAG/BEACON settings of the router - I did that, and still no-go.
What I finally did was go to "My Network Places/Add a network place" and put in "\\IPADDRESS\SHAREDDRIVE"
and BINGO IT WORKED!
IPADDRESS = IP of the Computer you're connecting to (find this by going to "Start\Run\CMD"
and type in "ipconfig" on the computer you're trying to connect to.
SHAREDDRIVE = The sharing name of the folder you're trying to access.
You can access printers in the same fashion:
"\\IPADDRESS\SHAREDPRINTERNAME"
This most definetely was a convuluted way to get my computers to talk to each other,
but it works! Now if Uncle Mickey would address the real issue everyone will be happy!
