Mike,
I would like to add a few things to help those who may not figure out some of the
steps. You can get the file swenum.sys, from your own computer in the windows/drivers
cache/i386/drivers.cab left click to open the cab, then right click on swenum.sys
to extract and put it in the swenum folder you have created.
Then to get the swenum.inf go to windows/inf and copy machine.inf to your swenum
folder. Find line 20 which reads Exclude from Select=* and delete it. Your newly
created machine.inf will be the .inf you select when you browse to it from adding
a new hardware device below.
I tried to find these on google and everyone wanted to sell them.
Also when you use device manager to reinstall your Plug and Play Enumerator, its
a little tricky if you have not done it before. You pick install hardware, say you
have already installed the device, go to the bottome pick new hardware, then from
the list system device, the the plug and play enumerator, and then browse to you
swenum folder and it will install.
Thanks for posting this. It fixed my problem, which i had been working on for eight
hours.
