re: how to backup my data?

I used startup boot disk win98 to format my HDD, I also used my utility bootup disk
as trying boot up to drive A. After that, my desktop can not boot up winXP and lost
my partision D for checking on DOS d: drive invalid. Then, I repair winXP made
up new boot up and desktop return back to winXP and lost my partision D: and my data.
Please,tell me how can I back up my data.
