Hi, I am not sure if this will help you..I had trouble getting my desktop and laptop to communicate, when trying to use XP ICS, worked forever on it, finally discovered that I had the wrong type cable. After I connected the right cable, then it was a breeze..I started out using category 5e snagless patch cable(RJ45 male/male ethernet/token ring) I was told by the person at the computer store that would work.. It does not work..oh yes and I am on a dialup network. I got a crossover cable that was for computer to computer hook up and immediately I was online.. Hope that his helps..
