Hello. My first time posting here!
A while ago, I used a resource hacker to edit the decompiled source of explorer.exe
in order to change the start button text (I had SP1 at the time). Everything worked
out just fine. Recently, I upgraded to SP2. I decided to overwrite the new explorer.exe
with the altered one (which was SP 1), not even thinking about it. Now, the task
bar and icons will not launch. When logging in (normally), Explorer terminates, and
I have to launch applications through the task manager. I am unable to get to system
restore (I no longer have a recovery console). How can I get a pristine copy of explorer.exe.
Can someone running XP Professional with SP2 give me their copy?
I also didn't understand what was meant about re-applying the service pack; please
forgive me, as I'm a little n00bish in this area of troubleshooting. I would greatly
appreciate any help!
Thank you,
