AMD Thunderbird, XP Pro SP2, 1GB ram. I just encountered a similar problem after
installing a Lexmark Z515 printer. A job hung in the spool and could not be deleted.
I visited Lexmark site and was instructed to enable bi-directional printing. Same,
CPU still at 99%. Removed printer software following LExmark instructions. Same thing.
Re-booted, same. Re-installed printer, same. Removed printer again, same. Re-booted,
same. Removed all printers, same. This computer is 2 1/2 yrs old and never a problem
before. I use AdAware spyware detection and AVG virus and Zone Alarm. None indicate
a spyware or virus problem or instrusion. I fired off a complaint to Lexmark and
will post their response. Until then, I pop up Task Manager and kill the process
until I need to print again! Major pain!! Any ideas out there??
