You can also scan with AdAware and Spybot, these are free too. Look here for download
links. Giant's antispyware is good, but there is no antispyware program capable to
find all problems. Problems like that can be caused by some registry setting left
there by some improperly uninstalled software. Or by an installed program that integrates
with the shell (e.g. add context menu items or toolbars). Look in the crash message
details, maybe it's there some module (DLL) name or other reference to an installed
program. A HijackThis log may help if you post it, but only tomorrow...
