Tony, thank you! The simple fix in the link below fixed the no audio device problem in my Dell 8400 running Windows XP Professional with SP2. A bit of advice: When you go to http://www.tymes.net/swenum/fix-swenum0.htm make note of the steps to follow, because it's hard to get back to that screen to reference them and also go through the various menus. Copy the lines shown to Word or Notepad. If you don't get the right menus, go back to your Word or Notepad file, re-select the last line, then go to the DOS prompt with the proper directory, paste it back in again, and hit enter. Also, if you have a temp directory and don't want to mess it, make a temp1 directory instead and, in the command lines, where it says temp, do temp1 instead. Sound is back! Thank you again. Carleton
