Had similar problem with Windows Task manager showing regular (every 0.5sec) use
by spoolsv. Tried some of the virus cleaning options mentioned but to no avail.
Finally ran REGMON.EXE which showed that Spoolsv was trying to use an old printer
(Xerox C55)on the network. Deleted the network ports ( just the ones referring the
old machine) using File > Server Properties. (Note that the printer itself had already
been deleted ages ago but the ports remained). Rebooted and no more 100% usage.
