I've been down both these holes (!). The XP/2000 machine will need to XP/2000 drivers loaded if it is to print to the WIN98 hosted printer and vice versa. But it is possible, we have 2 XP machines printing to a windows 98 machine's printer. I got the error message trying to print from WIN98 to a printer on a XP Pro box...so I'll try the service pack trick. But it is a bag of jam, especially when the customer is watching!!!
