I got it through a combination of things mentioned here and elsewhere...perhaps it
will help you, as well.
~ BIOS: Plug & Play OS - No
~ Checked Registry: ENUM permissions in HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet (as they should
be: Everyone - Read; SYSTEM - Full Control)
~ Services (Start | Run | Services.msc) Plug and Play:
2X Click --> Set to Disabled (Just OK the errors) - Reboot
~ Services (again) - Set to Automatic (Just OK all errors) - Reboot
System Tray goes a little nuts (with Found New Hardware icons) as it rediscovers
all devices again.
Device Manager now displayed all devices as normal.
Note (the following may only relate to my circumstances):
I had two devices with (Network Card and Com 1) with error exclamation marks...clicking
them produced errors. Right-clicked and uninstalled both. Rebooted - Windows rediscovered
these two "uninstalled" devices and set drivers correctly without any intervention\interaction
from me. All is well again.
Good Luck
